Clinics
We run the following clinics and patients will be called for review by our reception team, either by letter or phone, when their review is due. If you get a letter inviting you for a review, please let the receptionist know when you book your appointment. These clinics may be run by the GPs, practice nurses, health visitors or midwives and therefore it may not always be necessary for you to see a GP.
Chronic Disease Management (Asthma, BP, Thyroid, Coronary Heart Disease, Stroke,
Mental Health, Dementia and Epilepsy); Diabetes; Blood Pressure; Well-Woman; Child Health; Antenatal.
Follow-up appointments for these clinics will normally be given at the time of attendance.
There are no specific clinics for minor surgery and family planning but these are available by appointment.
Additional Services Provided
In addition to general medical services we offer a number of other services many in the form of clinics.
Chronic Disease Management
Diabetes
Diabetic patients are seen by the specialist nurse, Heather Crockett. She and Dr Wood review the patient results at a joint meeting. A letter will be sent to each patient following this review and you will be invited to make an appointment with Dr Wood if necessary.
Asthma, Blood Pressure, Thyroid & Epilepsy
All GPs and/or practice nurses run these clinics, and again patients are invited to attend for regular review, although of course patients are quite welcome to request an appointment themselves at any of these clinics (including diabetes) should they wish.
Well-Women
These clinics provide an opportunity for female patients to have regular cervical smears and breast examination, and also discuss problems related to female health. The clinics are generally run by the practice nurses.
Child Health
Run by Dr Reed in conjunction with the health visitors, babies and children under five years are seen by appointment for normal developmental assessment and childhood vaccinations.
Maternity Services
Our antenatal clinics are run by the community midwife who may consult with the GP when necessary. These are held in both Dingwall and Strathpeffer premises and if you require antenatal services please book directly into the midwives clinic.
Contraception
The full range of contraceptive services is provided by the practice and appointments may be made
with either the GP or the practice nurse.
Dr Reed provides implant fitting and Dr Wood, coils. Routine contraceptive follow-up appointments are made with a nurse. Emergency contraception is available without an appointment.
Smoking Cessation Support
This service is provided by Nurses MacKenzie and Crockett who can be contacted at the Strathpeffer surgery.
Minor Surgery
Drs Reed and MacPherson perform minor surgery, and both are on the Highland Health Board minor surgery list.
Warts
Warts and verrucae can be treated at the surgery by the nurses, and an ordinary nurse appointment should be made for this purpose.

These are performed by Dr MacPherson.
